The vibrator is made of a soft to the touch plastic, almost feels like baby powder softness. Easy to clean since waterproof though we didn't use it in the tub. It appears to be a variable speed vibrator (advertized - incremental speed control with e-z grip handle); however, the control is hard to turn with only one hand, awkward when you need to use two hands because it isn't easy to grip and heavy. You have to turn it a full half turn in order to get it to vibrate and then there is no other position. So if you like a change in speed vibrator or different pattern vibrators this isn't for you. It is fairly fast because it runs on two AA batteries, but sorry – I like it faster.
