 Better Sex Reel Review
This mixture of the Raquel Welch film Kansas City Bomber and the Linda Blair classic Roller Boogie get the royal treatment: a four hour plus feature! The storyline is fairly silly and director James Avalon plays it straight, not necessarily a wise move, but what's here sports some great photography, "A" list performers, and a plentiful 11 sex scenes. A strong thumbs up is in order.
The plot revolves around a rivalry between two all-women roller derby teams, the Bitchin' Moaners and the Pin-Ups. Blonde Bree Olsen plays Pyra, the leader of the Moaners, often feuding publicly with Florence Fightingale (Sunny Lane), the bad girl leader of the Pin-Ups. There is many a nightmare scene which Pyra dreams of strange sexual goings-on while she can't get up off the floor in her bulky skates—it's not supposed to be funny but these moments are pretty hilarious.
The conclusion finds the big roller derby match devolving into a six person orgy in which four of the skaters ravish two male referees. Any plot here is more of an excuse for sex scenes that are heavy on lesbian activity and have something of a retro feel, what with the period music and the female performers leaving their enormous 70's skates on in most of the numbers. |
