Tubal Pregnancy
A Better Sex Definition: Tubal pregnancy is a dangerous condition in which the fertilized ovum locates and implants in the Fallopian tube where it continues to develop. This may occur if the tube has been scarred or unusually twisted by infection resulting from endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease. Since ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition, it requires immediate treatment. Abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain, cramps or a dull ache that becomes severe are symptoms of ectopic pregnancy. The condition is typically treated by surgical removal of the tube, unless detected very early in the pregnancy when the embryo can be removed and the tube can be preserved. Women may experience the feelings that result from miscarriage and often are aided by support groups in recovery from the experience.
