Better Sex Reel Review
Although this horror flick riffed from Quentin Tarantino's From Dusk 'til Dawn truncates sex scenes and ends rather abruptly with the plot threads left hanging, the Michael Ninn film still sports great production values, good dialogue, likable characters and seven sex scenes interspersed among the bloodletting. Thumbs up for this entertaining exercise in sex and violence.
The film opens with five drunk 20-somethings driving through the California desert in a beat-up van. Jane, played by Kaylani Lei, is still reeling from her ex having cheated on her and is receiving some support from pal Barrett Blade. As the desert skies become ominous, they pick up odd couple Otis and Baby (Derrick Pierce and Stormy) and the seven arrive at a desolate motel. Jane has odd dreams of doing strange creatures in the night, and the group is somewhat put off by the strange behavior of the pole dancers at the local strip joint.
The next morning, everyone heads out for the Black Rock Festival. The ravers are attacked by a band of roving vampires, some of whom we saw at the strip club and in Jane's dreams. Three of the five friends are graphically dispatched, and oddballs Otis and Baby turn out to be slick vampire hunters. Can they survive until dawn?...
